Because of how society has changed over the years, many people have found themselves stuck with all types of fears and anxieties. To be able to try and prevent some of these fears in the future, studies such as finding what kinds of strategies have helped people deal with different situations can be done in order to better handle them. These may be as simple as gathering a group of people who may be stressed towards schoolwork and ask them to switch their mindsets, or by even having some of the students try to be more organized in simple ways such as filling out a weekly planner. The findings from these studies would help us be able to develop skills that may lead to overcoming fears that we face in everyday life as well as the ones we overcome in college. Researchers could even take data from previous studies that have been done on the different fear management strategies in order to have a larger sample and to have more efficient data than simply their own. In Rebecca Cox’s article, she points out how some students had to just push through and face their fears and anxieties in order to be more successful in the classroom, she recorded that she had found students to be much better off by doing this. Organizations such as the American Psychological Association have already began to find ways to cope with fears and anxieties of everyday. Some of these skills include meditation, exercising, and even just smiling more often.
As time passes, more and more colleges are getting more involved with helping students handle stress anxiety. Schools such as Kent State, in Ohio and Bucknell University, in Pennsylvania have began to incorporate “Puppy Rooms” on weeks of finals where the students can go and play with dogs as a way to relieve stress. Other ideas may include things like Safe Spaces, and these are just groups of students on campus who meet to talk about what stresses them out at the point of meeting in order to relieve anxieties.
